Documentation Training- Documentation can make the difference between a patient being approved or denied time in treatment. I can help clinicians identify key components of utilization reviews, progress reports, individual session notes, group notes and status update reports. Whether the clinicians corespondent directly with the insurance review officer or a third party does, the key components are vital.
Often times clinicians are trained differently on documentation. While there are several formats that clinical notes can be outlined, key information and components should be the same. It is not uncommon for programs to have specific employees who’s patients granted longer lengths of stay and employees with higher denial rates. This can often be contributed to specific items payors want to see.
My training method includes group education, individual coaching and specific assistants for supervisors. Often times, basic training can help the team better articulate the amazing work your program is doing.
