Ethics & Disclosure

addiction and mental health consulting services

In recent years, the addiction treatment field has received some negative publicity.  Most of this attention has stemmed from issues of billing fraud, patient brokering, misleading marketing and all around poor treatment.  It is my personal belief the term “consulting” has been misused and associated with a person, or agency, that sells referrals.  Given this series of unfortunate events, I feel compelled to clearly state how I operate, and the ethics I adhere to.

Referral Statement

I believe the financial success of a company is a byproduct of; placing the patient first, strong clinical work, a positive company culture and the ability to successfully market a program in an ethical way.  I do not sell referrals, purchase referrals, nor guarantee anyone (X) number of patients for hiring me.

While I do receive calls regularly from families, providers and agencies seeking the proper resources, all referrals are based on what is clinically necessary for each individual.  Referrals are in no way, associated with programs I have consulted with.  Furthermore, when possible, I provide three possible resources for the individual in need.

Revenue Statement

I help providers identify ways to improve their revenue by genuinely improving components of their companies.  This begins with an objective assessment of their billing practices, marketing strategy, business development initiatives, cost analysis and other factors.  I do not utilize any referral agencies, black hat internet campaigns or questionable methods to improve the revenue of a program.

Payment and Refund Policy

Hourly Services- Due to the complexity of some cases, I utilize hourly billing when necessary.  All hours are tracked and invoiced on a weekly basis.  Payment is expected promptly upon receipt.  Any payment not received within 30 days of receipt, will be considered delinquent and subject to collections, unless otherwise negotiated, in writing.

Packaged Rates- This rate structure is based around specific services and includes a predetermined number of hours per service.

Refund Policy- Contractor is entitled to receive payment for hours completed.  In the event a contract is cancelled, an invoice will be generated for executed hours.  Invoices will be subject to Hourly Service procedures outlined above.  Due to the wide array of services and clients we serve, refund policies may vary per negotiated contract.  This is done to protect the hiring agency and contractor.

Disclosure of States Not Served- Due to existing contractual agreements, Seymour Consulting (including employees), shall not provide any services within the states of: Washington State, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming or Utah, unless the services are unrelated to the business of alcohol, drug or mental health services.
