New “Opiate Court” in Buffalo City

Here is an adaptation of Drug Courts, specifically to address the opioid crisis.  My initial impressions of this program is they have a more realistic understanding of how difficult opiates are.  There appears to be a level of compassion and understanding built into the program.  Having worked with diversion programs over the years, I can say they have introduced many, who would have never otherwise, been exposed to recovery.

The Federal, county and city court officials are looking hard at Buffalo, N.Y.’s new opioid crisis intervention court as one potential model solution to the epidemic of heroin and opioid overdoses that continue to devastate families and communities across America, taxing local governments, first responders and the nation’s criminal justice system.
